As the leading Nordic provider of cloud-based (SaaS) solutions for craftsmen and the construction industry, the SmartCraft group has offices in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the UK. We sat down with Christian Saleki, the CTO, to discuss why SmartCraft chose to work with Cloud Family for their AWS solutions.
When Christian started at SmartCraft three years ago, he wanted to take a closer look at COGS (Cost of Goods Sold, representing the costs directly related to the production of the product).
"COGS was a constantly rising cost, and we needed to implement some initiatives to better control cost development over time. We have many customers generating more and more data. Databases grow quickly with many new users! With Cloud Family, we have now achieved significant savings."

"With a growing customer base and increasing data, costs quickly escalate, and after a great initial meeting with Cloud Family, Christian decided to use their solution."
"I enjoy establishing long-term relationships, and I felt like, 'this is a great match! – something we can build on,'" says Christian.
"There’s a genuine ambition from Cloud Family to help us, and we have the same ambition in return. That’s why I’m happy to talk about our partnership and highlight it. I believe Cloud Family has done a fantastic job so far and has supported us in what we need."
Cloud Family's solution has also had a ripple effect, bringing positive impacts to other areas beyond just cost savings.
"We help the team build sound and streamlined products that deliver maximum performance. It's a bit like tuning a car to use less fuel while delivering more horsepower."
"As engineers focus on building our software, it’s easy to overlook how our implementations can impact COGS, both positively and negatively. By bringing the cost aspect back to the team as part of their responsibility to maintain and monitor, we help them build sound and streamlined products that deliver maximum value. It’s like tweaking a car to make it consume less fuel while delivering more horsepower."
"Our motto is 'Good enough is no longer good enough,' and part of our quality work directly leads to cost reductions. Working with Cloud Family helps us find smart and risk-free alternatives alongside our internal initiatives."
"We continue focusing on building fantastic applications for our users and appreciate all the great tools that help us keep our eyes on the right things."
Bygglet, part of SmartCraft, was Cloud Family’s first customer and was thus recommended to CTO Christian Saleki. After the meeting between Cloud Family and Christian, SmartCraft’s Finnish company was also included. After that, Coredination joined, and today it has been decided that all companies in the group will reduce costs using Cloud Family’s solution. Overall, SmartCraft has saved 8% of its AWS costs by using Cloud Family.

About Cloud Family AB
The team behind Cloud Family previously developed a service for streaming mobile games, which required them to use AWS services. They discovered they could develop a solution that allowed multiple companies to share costs based on their usage of the services. After discussing this with AWS, the team realized they had a new business idea, and Cloud Family AB was born—as a partner to Amazon Web Services.
Cloud Family’s fixed-price commitment service enables discounts for customers, thanks to Cloud Family’s AI/ML-based platform.
Cloud Family AB is part of the Founders Loft incubator, located in central Gothenburg. Founders Loft incubates and accelerates impact-driven tech companies, innovative sustainable solutions, and DeepTech innovations.
