Updated: Nov 24, 2023

✨ - Emigreat is a part of Founders Loft incubator -

The entrepreneur Saaya Sorrells-Weatherford, supported by Founders Loft and one of the visionaries behind Emigreat, continues to make an impact within the tech industry. After her recent recognition as Female Founder of the Year 2023 at Di Digital's prestigious pitch competition, Sorrells-Weatherford has now also been appointed as Nordic Female Founder of the Year 2023!

Congratulations from Founders Loft!

The Nordic Female Invest Summit, organized by Minc and dedicated to promoting diversity within the startup ecosystem, highlights the lack of gender equality and diversity in the Nordic region. The event is crucial as only 1.1% of venture capital in the Nordics is directed towards companies founded by women, and only 10.7% towards teams with mixed genders.

Saaya Sorrells-Weatherford's recognition as Nordic Female Founder of the Year testifies to the significant progress Emigreat has made in the startup landscape. The company was founded by Saaya Sorrells-Weatherford and Anali Molina, and their collaboration at Emigreat has been driven by their shared dedication and innovative spirit. Drawing on their distinct cultural backgrounds, they blended their strengths to create a partnership that has evolved their company. Their shared vision, stemming from personal challenges with immigration, transformed into a mission to revolutionize the relocation process.

Emigreat, a portfolio company under the guidance of Founders Loft, is now at the forefront of innovation, enabling companies to take ownership of their employees' relocation.

Sorrells-Weatherford took the stage at the Nordic Female Invest Summit to showcase the potential of Emigreat and also contribute to highlighting the need for increased support and resources for diverse founders in the Nordic tech scene.

The event, designed to illuminate and bridge the gender diversity gap in Nordic tech, featured an engaging program with high-profile presentations and influential speakers. Participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the energy of ambitious individuals, regardless of gender, passionately pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams.

Through this event, participants contribute to the change needed to create a more equal and just future for the Nordic tech industry.

Here is an excerpt of what Saaya wrote on her LinkedIn about the news:

Yesterday, I had the privilege of pitching forEmiGreatand winning the Nordic Fe:male Invest Summit pitch competition in Malmö 🎉
More importantly, I got to witness 10 fantastic pitches, solving problems that I didn't even know existed. I listened to open and honest discussions about imposter syndrome, perseverance, how crisis leads to innovation, and the battle to protect your mental health.
